Blues because of the main colors, but also because I’m a little blue that crossing the border into Canada is still so complicated. Hopefully by the end of the year most restrictions will have been lifted!

York Gum trees

Eucalyptus loxopleba – York Gum Trees near Hyden, Western Australia – 18H x 24W inches soft pastels on paper. Apparently the York Gum is a marker of fertile soil in the Wheatbelt. Many have been cleared to make way for agriculture, resulting in weed trees and other invasive species taking over. In this iconic back-road-Australia scene, their charm welcomes us for miles.

The forest interior presents gorgeous layers of texture created by Ponderosa Pine needles hanging from mossy branches year-round in Oregon. This is inspired by my favorite trails in Tualatin Hills Nature Park in Beaverton.
