    I see it now. This reminds me of the painting you did of the trees in the Queen Charlotte Islands.
    A bit of Emily Carr in this painting I think.

    Emily’s work was free and spirited — the way forests are. I feel the same sort of association with trees, and admire Emily’s work very much. I think it’s an honor and a responsibility to follow in any master Artists’ footsteps. I am sure their highest hope and expectation was/is that we learn from their experience and do our best, furthering the cause where they leave off.
    Our hearts and our minds are devoted to a lifetime of documenting what we see and feel.
    Actually it’s like a compulsion, and it’s magic how any Artwork succeeds to impress at all. It’s relying on experience and the subjective, abstract and undefinable side of nature.
    Call it what you will, the spirit of it is the other half of Art’s structure, and what Emily managed to capture with her grand open-hearted paintings.
    You leave a reminder to take Emily’s queue to leave enough spirit there without defining too much.
