Hi Dad, they are seen dead along the Texas highways like this all Spring and Summer. It would be great to photograph live ones but I haven’t seen any yet, wild or even at the Dallas or Fort Worth Zoos.

Hi Chris. Yes, I think gradually a series will develop. ‘Phun’ posted Feb. 19/06 is similar in style, and the first time I tried this color layering and texture buildup. I used the technique again in ‘Tropical’, posted Feb. 25th, shortly after that one.

hmm, maybe, but it’s a bit of a stretch! It was color and intricate scrunchy patterns of the leaves that caught my attention this time.

Thanks for remarking about this painting, all of you.
After using mostly oil pastels for the past two years, the last 3 works were all about relearning to paint with Acrylics, and this one finds me settling back in more comfortably. Expect more paintings on canvas this year - trees, of course!

Hi April,
The email address you left isn’t working, so I can only hope you will write back and elaborate on your comment, because I’m interested to hear more about your opinion. Comments like yours are always helpful, but more effective if you could leave some advice or suggestions as to what you think might work, or another direction I might take.
Every new piece is an experiment; some work, some don’t, some sell, many won’t. Creativity and “Art” is all about constant efforts to stay open-minded and try whatever you can, finding ways to keep work energetic and cutting edge. The most common trait in my work is that I’m open to changing it, and I often go down with the ship, but every effort contributes to the next work which may end up being successful. If you are an Artist, the best advice I can offer is to keep trying new things if you think they might enhance your work. This one was completed in Oct.2007…have a look…what are your comments for these changes?

This is exquisite! Haven’t been here for a while and there is a lot of wonderful new stuff to see. I don’t think there’s any moss growing underfoot while you’re around. AND you rake oak leaves and take the time to document them! Gorgeous photos- also love the fragile frozen bug.
