Dancing With Trees is an example of work that does not reflect the original vision I had.
I’m not giving up on this one even though it’s kind of past its prime.. in photos you can’t feel the presence of its size. This happened with the 8′ Sun Shower too…feeling that I’m on to something here even if I can’t get it to work in this particular painting. As with a few other recent paintings, I think the ambition about the subject overtook the wisdom to see when it was finished…rather, back when it was acceptable as finished. I’m looking for paintings to be more than acceptable though, so I’m not giving up on this one; how will I ever know if I don’t try and make them so? Failure still has potential for success when you try to do something about it. Most paintings need a rest period. I might take the palette knife to it…
